Privacy Policy

1. Overview

letsTRIPin ("the App", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. It applies to the letsTRIPin web app (app.letstripin.com), the Android app, and this website (letstripin.com).

2. Data We Collect

Account information

• Name, email address, and profile picture (from Google Sign-In)
• Username (chosen by you)
• People you follow and who follow you, and follow requests

Trip data

• Trip details: names, dates, locations, descriptions, visibility
• Itinerary entries: accommodations, flights, trains, transport, places, notes, and the coordinates and addresses attached to them
• Expenses, splits, and settlements
• Checklists you create, their items, and who you share them with
• Comments you write on entries and expenses
• Documents and attachments you upload
• Crew invitations and the permissions you grant

Usage data

• Feature usage and page-view analytics, collected through Google Analytics (including Google Analytics for Firebase)
• Error logs used for debugging
• AI prompts you submit, so the AI features can respond
• Feedback you send us through the App

Device data

• Browser or app version, device type, and approximate technical information such as IP address that any web service receives
• A push-notification token for your device, if you allow notifications
• We do not collect your precise device location

3. How We Use Your Data

• Provide the service: store your trips, sync them across devices, and enable collaboration
• AI features: process your prompts to generate itinerary suggestions and edits
• Maps and routes: look up places and calculate distances and travel times between them
• Notifications: tell you about invitations, comments, and expense activity
• Improve the App: understand usage to fix bugs and build better features
• Support: respond to feedback and requests

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your trip data for advertising.

4. Data Storage & Security

• Data is stored on Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, Firebase Storage, Firebase Authentication) in Google Cloud data centers.
• Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
• Access rules restrict data so people can only read or write their own data and data that has been explicitly shared with them.
• Uploaded files are stored in Firebase Storage with per-trip access controls.

5. Data Sharing

We share data only in these circumstances:

• With your crew: trip data is shared with the people you invite, according to the permissions you set. Checklists are personal to you until you share them with specific crew members.
• Other signed-in users: your name, username, and profile picture are visible to other signed-in users, for example when someone searches for people to invite.
• Public trips: trips you mark "public" are visible to anyone with the link. Trips marked "followers" are visible to people who follow you.
• Service providers: Google (Firebase, Google Sign-In, Google Maps Platform, Google Analytics, Firebase Cloud Messaging) and Google's Gemini API for AI features. They process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies.
• Legal requirements: if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

6. AI & Third-Party APIs

• When you use AI features, your prompt and the relevant trip context are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a response.
• Google Maps Platform (Maps, Places, and Routes) is used to show maps, enrich locations with addresses, coordinates, and photos, and calculate distances and travel times. Use of Google Maps is also subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms and the Google Privacy Policy.
• We do not use your data to train our own AI models.

7. Data Retention

• Your data is kept for as long as your account is active.
• If you delete a trip, its data (entries, expenses, documents) is permanently removed.
• If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your data within 30 days.
• Analytics data is kept for the period configured in our Google Analytics settings.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: see the data associated with your account
• Correction: update your profile information at any time
• Deletion: delete individual trips, or ask us to delete your account
• Data portability: ask for an export of your trip data
• Withdraw consent: stop using the App at any time, and turn off push notifications in your device settings

To exercise these rights, use the Feedback option in the App's Settings or message us on Instagram (@letstripin_com).

9. Cookies & Local Storage

• Firebase Authentication stores your session token in your browser's IndexedDB.
• Firestore uses local persistence so your trips work offline.
• We use local storage for preferences (such as theme) and to cache things like place-photo links, plus a service worker for offline support.
• This website and the App use Google Analytics, which uses cookies or similar identifiers to measure usage. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
• We do not use advertising cookies.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your country. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date of the latest update is shown at the top. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
